The story
The stone arrived in a folded paper from the Panjshir valley. It had been kept for eleven years by a dealer who did not want to sell it to anyone who would recut it.
We spent three weeks looking before we drew anything. The green holds a blue undertone in low light and the inclusions form a diagonal that we decided to keep visible — a meridian across the stone.
The mount took nine months. Most of that was waiting: for the gold to be drawn to the right section, for the claws to be filed to a width where they disappear.
